Adirondack Winery is excited to announce the opening of its new sidewalk café at the Lake George Tasting Room on Canada Street and the launch of its new “Cocktail Edition” wines, just in time for the summer season.

In a press release, owner Sasha Pardy shared, “Adding an outdoor seating area to our Lake George Tasting Room is something our customers have asked us to do for a very long time. Now our customers can enjoy our wine, our famous wine slushies, and the fresh air with a glimpse of the lake across the street.”

The seasonal patio, open May through October, features eco-friendly Polywood Adirondack Chairs and offers guests the chance to enjoy wine tastings, cheese and snack platters, and beverages like Extreme Heights Ciders and New York-made beers in biodegradable cups.

In addition, the first release in their new Cocktail Edition wine lineup is “Escape,” a Pina Colada-infused semi-sweet white wine with tropical flavors of pineapple, coconut, and banana. “This wine captures the essence of a summer vacation,” Pardy stated, noting the picturesque label featuring Lake George.

Topside Grille Reopens at the Algonquin, Offering Elevated Dining on Lake George

rustic looking bar area

After a five-year hiatus, Algonquin’s Topside Grille has reopened on its second story in Bolton Landing. Offering stunning views of Lake George, it is open Thursday through Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Unlike the more casual Algonquin, Topside Grille encourages reservations!

Owner Keith Scott believes now is the perfect time for its return, citing Lake George’s evolving resort scene. With increased demand for upscale dining experiences, including from resort guests, first-time renters, and new lakefront homeowners, Scott aims to meet this demand with Topside Grille’s prime steaks, Cioppino, and pork ossobuco.

The restaurant’s ambiance is serene compared to the bustling Algonquin. To maintain tranquility, a children’s menu is excluded, and children under 10 are discouraged. Guests are encouraged to enjoy their meal leisurely, emphasizing a relaxed dining experience without the usual table turnover rush.

The reopening has also welcomed back longtime staff eager to contribute to this refined dining atmosphere once more. Topside Grille shares dock space with the Algonquin, allowing guests to arrive by boat.

Find Topside Grille at 4770 Lake Shore Drive, Bolton Landing. For reservations, visit thealgonquin.com or resy.com.

On Sunday morning (June 30), an electrical fire broke out at the Shepard Park bandstand in Lake George. The fire, reported around 3:52 a.m., was quickly contained by the Lake George Fire Department with assistance from North Queensbury Fire.

Thankfully, there were no injuries, but the bandstand was completely destroyed.

In response to the incident, Village Mayor Ray Perry acted promptly, enlisting Ellsworth Excavating to clear the site by the next day. The Lake George Arts Project and other dedicated team members have worked tirelessly to ensure that the summer season’s events proceed without interruption.

A temporary tent was built in the meantime, and now, a temporary stage with lighting and more stable power source has been constructed.

Plans are underway to rebuild a permanent bandstand, with construction set to begin after the fall events and aimed for completion by the 2025 season.

Despite this setback, the 2024 Summer Concert Series and the 40th anniversary of the Jazz at the Lake festival will continue as scheduled.

The community’s resilience and swift action highlight the dedication to preserving Lake George’s cherished summer traditions, promising another memorable season for all.
