Be part of something BIG and join Grassland Bird Trust in Fort Edward NY for Raptor Fest – On the Wing of Migration! This year, we’re part of the Global Big Day celebration, observing spring migration with birders worldwide. Rain or shine, be there!
- Global Big Day guided morning bird walks – small groups, expert bird guides.
- “A Year in the Life” presentation by Kevin Tolan, biologist from The Vermont Center for Ecostudies, describing the incredible migratory journeys of some of our most iconic grassland birds.
- Live bird demonstration by Joyce Perry from the Whispering Willow Wild Care.
Bonus! Technical coaching for identifying birds using the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Merlin app and recording bird sightings in their eBird app.
The guided bird walks start at 7:45, 8:00, and 8:15 a.m. from the Alfred Z. Solomon Grassland Viewing Area at 160 County Road 42 in Fort Edward. The presentation and live bird demos will start around 10:15 at the Durkeetown Baptist Church at 2 Durkeetown Road in Fort Edward. Please register in advance on the Grassland Bird Trust website (walks and events).
