The American Revolution in Washington County will be discussed; specifically, the Burgoyne Campaign and its effect on Charlotte County (Washington County). The British invasion, led by Burgoyne coming from Canada, intensified the anger and hostility among citizens as well as causing several atrocities. Charlotte County was under siege by these British forces from July until September 1777.
