2022 Heroes of Hospitality: Amy Collins
Director of Tourism & Business Development

Amy Collins is the Director of Tourism & Business Development for the City of Glens Falls, a position she has held since 2011. Throughout her career, Amy has worked in a variety of roles that have helped shape her passion for public service and community development. She brings a wealth of experience, having worked in both government and non-profit sectors at the state and federal levels.
Amy’s professional journey began in Washington D.C., where she spent over a decade working with influential figures such as President Ronald Reagan, the U.S. State Department under President George H.W. Bush, and New York Congressman Ben Gilman. Her early career included organizing high-profile events, including the President’s Dinner, a fundraising event for newly elected members of Congress, and managing foreign affairs initiatives. She returned to New York to be closer to family, where she spent 12 years working for Governor George Pataki at the New York State Consumer Protection Board and later became involved in local initiatives, including her work as the Director of RSVP, a volunteer network supporting senior citizens.
In January 2011, Amy was appointed Director of Tourism for the City of Glens Falls by Mayor Jack Diamond. She has served in this capacity for the past three administrations, continuously contributing to the growth and promotion of the city and the surrounding region. In addition to her tourism role, Amy was named interim recreation director for Mayor Collins, further strengthening her influence in shaping the community.
Amy earned her B.A. in Government from St. Lawrence University, where she also spent a semester studying at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. Amy’s love for Glens Falls and the surrounding area is evident in her work, where she continues to foster strong networks and relationships to promote the region and create new opportunities for growth. She remains deeply committed to her hometown and is passionate about ensuring its continued prosperity.
