2023 Heroes of Hospitality: Frank Dittrich

(1957-2022)

frank dittrich

Frank was a champion of progress and people, an energetic leader whose contributions led to the long-term success of the Warren County hospitality community.

He was committed to making the Lake George region a preeminent year-round destination for visitors. His work ensured a better life for employees and owners of many local businesses and helped visitors to the Lake George region and residents of Warren County.

Frank left a distinguished career in banking to enter the hospitality industry with his wife Kathleen (Kenny) and brothers in-law Dave Kenny and Dave Menter. Together, they purchased, restored, and built multiple hospitality businesses in the area, including Marine Village Resort, Sun Castle Resort, Tea Island Resort, the Inn at Erlowest, and the Courtyard Marriott.

Frank was a member of the Board of Directors of the Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce and CVB among other boards and was among the founders of the Warren County Lodging Association.

His leadership of his family’s hospitality businesses was widely admired, and his advocacy for effective public-private sector collaboration, especially in the areas of marketing and promotion, created a basis for long-term growth and opportunity. He was a friend, confidant, colleague, and cheerleader from whom we all learned.
